MY STORY
From Learning and Development to Solution Architecture
My professional journey has been continuous learning, adaptability, and passion for solving business problems. Every stage – learning, development, BFSI process transformation, automation and leadership – has shaped the way i think about business challenges, technology and transformation today.
EARLY CAREER
Building the foundation
I began my career as a Computer Instructor, where I developed strong communication, technology and problem-solving skills.
Teaching students helped me learn how to simplify complex concepts, communicate effectively and support people in their learning journey. In hindsight, these early experiences laid the foundation for many of the skills I continue to use today, including stakeholder communication, mentoring, knowledge sharing and solution thinking.
NEXT STEP
Entering the Corporate World
My next step was as an Instructional Designer with Magna Infotech in Hyderabad, where I focused on developing training content and learning solutions, helping organizations improve knowledge transfer and employee capability development.
This experience strengthened my ability to understand business requirements, create structured content and design solutions from an end-user perspective.
2010 – 2015
Beginning My BFSI Journey
I later joined CoreLogic, which subsequently became part of Cognizant, as an Instructional Designer. I developed training content for the Mortgage domain, collaborating closely with subject matter experts, business teams and operational stakeholders.
This role gave me valuable exposure to the financial services industry and became my gateway into the BFSI world. As I learned more about mortgage processes and business operations, I became increasingly interested in the operational side of the business beyond training and learning.
CAREER EVOLUTION
Transition into Business Process Transformation
As my understanding of business processes grew, my career gradually evolved beyond learning and development. I moved into business processes transformation-focused roles, gaining experience across multiple BFSI domains including:
- Mortgage Operations
- Insurance Operations
- Wealth Management
- Fund Accounting
- Investment Operations
Over time, my focus shifted from helping people learn processes to helping organisations improve the processes themselves.
2015 ONWARDS
Discovering My Passion for Automation
A significant turning point came in 2015 when I moved into automation-focused work, combining business-process knowledge with technology and problem-solving capabilities.
One of the key skills I developed was VBA (Visual Basic for Applications), which became a powerful tool for automating repetitive and manual business processes. Using VBA, I designed and implemented automation solutions across:
- Desktop Applications
- Web-Based Systems
- Mainframe Environments
Over the years, I delivered numerous automation and transformation initiatives across Mortgage, Insurance, Banking and Investment Operations. Collectively, these initiatives contributed an estimated efficiency benefit equivalent to over 50 full-time employees (FTEs), while strengthening operational controls and reducing manual effort.
These experiences shaped my transformation mindset, where every business challenge became an opportunity to create a more efficient, scalable and sustainable solution.
LEADERSHIP
Growing as a Leader
As my responsibilities expanded, I progressed through leadership roles and eventually became a Service Delivery Manager. Leading teams, managing stakeholders and driving business outcomes taught me that successful transformation is rarely about technology alone. It requires:
- Business understanding
- Stakeholder engagement
- Governance
- Communication
- Change management
- Disciplined execution
This perspective continues to influence how I approach solution design today.
“I believe the most effective solutions are created when business knowledge, operational experience and technology come together.”
THE TURNING POINT
Why Solution Architecture?
After many years across operations, automation, transformation and leadership, I became increasingly interested in the bigger picture. I realised that the most successful transformations begin long before implementation. They begin with:
- Understanding the business problem
- Evaluating available options
- Designing the right combination of people, process and technology
- Creating sustainable business outcomes
This naturally led me towards Solution Architecture. For me, it is not simply about technology — it is about understanding business challenges, designing scalable solutions, enabling transformation, strengthening governance and creating long-term value.
Looking back, every stage of my career had been preparing me for this path.
